Guangzhou Port seaward channel Phase I, II, III project; the deep-water channel widening project and the waterway around Dahu Island project
The total length of the Guangzhou Port seaward channel is about 120 kilometers. Since the 1990s, it has implemented the first phase of the channel, the second phase, the third phase, deep-water channel widening, around the Dahu Island channel project. Channel navigation standards from 20,000DWT vessel one-way navigation gradually increased to allowing 150,000DWT container ships and 100,000DWT container ships navigation in both directions, and it is also navigable for not fully loaded 200,000DWT container ships. The throughput of Guangzhou port in the same period has grown rapidly from several tens of millions tons to 656 million tons in 2022, of which the container throughput has reached 24.86 million TEUs, ranking fifth and sixth of the top ports in the world respectively.
