Located in Port Moresby, the capital of PNG, the China-aided road project in Papua New Guinea is a key supporting project for the PNG government to organize the 2018 APEC meeting. The project includes two parts: the new Independence Avenue and the repair and upgrade of the Airport Expressway. The Independence Avenue is 1.06 kilometers long, with a two-way six-lane asphalt concrete pavement and a design speed of 50 kilometers per hour, which was the road with the highest grade standard and technical standard in PNG at that time; and the Capital Airport Expressway connects the Jackson International Airport and the capital's core business district, with a total length of 8.44 kilometers, a two-way four-lane road and a design speed of 60 kilometers per hour.
